Ecommerce Shopping Cart & Processing Solution

We (www.888knivesrus.com) are looking to move our store to a new host. We would like to purchase a cart that can be hosted anywhere, preferable ASP. I've been searching for weeks, have reviewed a few suggested by the firm who is going to help with the move (vp-asp & x-cart, which is php) and keep coming up short on the features we need. Wondering if anyone here has any ideas based on our needs listed below:
    1. Complete control over design of store
    2. UPS & USPS realtime & worldship export
    3. Quickbooks compatability, easily!
    4. authorize.net compliant
    5. Robust order/customer management
5a. Ability to take phone orders
5b. Edit orders - Add and remove product, change shipping options, split and combine orders
5c. Customizable email templates for different activities (backorder, shipping, sold-out...)
    6. Unlimited products
    7. Multiple product options that affect price & weight
    8. MUST NOT CHARGE CARD OR AUTHORIZE CARD AT CHECKOUT, as we only charge when we ship, and carry many products that are constantly back ordered.
    9. sku, price, quantity & subtotal promotions
    10. Coupons
    11. Gift Certificates
    12. Cross Selling
    13. Best sellers
    14. Product ratings (review before display)
    15. Recommend this item
    16. Customer accounts
    17. Newsletter management
    18. customizable reports for orders & products
    19. ability to search for orders by product or sku
    20. Multiple order statuses (new, pending, approved, complete, backorder, cancelled)

I think that covers most of our concerns.

I know this is a tall order and any help will be greatly appreciated.

We went through the same process and ending up developing our own online ordering site in house. Albeit we lost things like authorize.net compliant and quickbooks compatibility like you listed, but we got exactly what we wanted it to look like and had the technical in house knowledge to do it. All other solutions seemed to be lacking in integration into our existing website. But you have to weigh the cost to develop in house vs. what you lose by an off the shelf solution.

Thanks for the replies so far. We are trying to avoid a complete custom development. We would prefer to find the best off the shelp package and if necessary we can hire a firm to add or modify functionality.

Cactushop looks interesting. I am going to investigate it further.

    Any other suggestions?

    Check out VP-ASP.

It's a free-to-use open source .asp shopping cart. Fully customizable and it offers option packs to add increased functionality.

The free version comes with an Access DB, although the paid versions will allow you to use SQL or MySQL databases.

In terms of Quickbooks compatibility, with the option pack, you can export product tables to .csv files, though I don't personally use that.

It's not perfect but with some TLC and basic tinkering, you can get to jump through hoops.

Take a look, download it for free and mess around with it. The price is right.

    A well Rounded Solution

    Hi There,

I read your mail and it reminded me of the time, when I was facing the similar problems as you are today. All the problems mentioned by you, including the DO NOT Charge on Checkout, Phone orders, Multiple Order Status, upsell, cross sell, guided selling, etc etc.

After evaluating several solutions including VP ASP, we decided to go with NetSuite. Yes it is not cheap, but if you have the budget then it is just the solutions you are looking for www.netsuite.com

We have done 2 projects with Netsuite, and are now working with a new product called Focus which is not SAAS, and can be owned by you.

If you want more details on this please mail me on aditya@komlink.in

    Regards,
