    ror.xml files

    Hi all,

What is all this about ror.xml files? Is anyone using them yet? From what I can see it is like having a froogle feed in the root of your site that the search engines can read...is this right?

I never have understood why Froogle doesn't read a dynamically generated xml file from your site rather that you having to upload them manually (why doesn't it work the other way around like a google sitemap?)....anyone explain to me why this is?

    Feed me with your knowledge!

Actually ROR has been around quite a long time.
Check out Burf.com (broken at the moment) it is a search engine based on ROR. Check out http://www.rorweb.com/ Gives you all the info you could want.
If you have already created and uploaded an ror.xml to your root directory add <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="ROR" href="ror.xml" /> between your <head> </head> tags. So far only Yahoo has indexed it but it made one helluva difference in my ranking on Yahoo.
You can use the online tool at http://www.rorweb.com/ Gsitecrawler, my personal favorite creates many different formats of feeds and sitemaps from your PC. Download it free at http://gsitecrawler.com/en/download/ .
    Hope this help, Dan

If you do not have more than 500 pages, check an excellent tool for creating a proper XML site map here: http://www.sitemapdoc.com/
