    Yahoo Paid Directory inclusion

    Hi

I've been reviewing the inbound links for a clients competitors and have found that they have a link from the commercial section of Yahoo's Directory.

In order to gain a link in the same section would require a paid inclusion of $299 (non-refundable). Do you think it's worth going for a paid inclusion to a subject related section of the Yahoo directory? Yahoo is already returning good results for the chosen keywords. So I'm thinking why bother. Would we just be paying for a recognised inbound link from a high ranking directory?

Would a paid inclusion to the directory be a backdoor to receiving inbound links/traffic from other sites in much the same way as an inclusion on dmoz will see your site listed with other directories thus boosting links?

You'll have to weigh the advantages of being listed immediately versus obtaining a natural link in the Yahoo! directory.

Google tends to ignore paid listings, so the immediate listing is useless in terms of page rank. Additionally, it's not a one time listing fee. You'll pay $299.00 for each year you maintain the listing.

If you anticipate that a great number of visitors would find your site through the Yahoo! listing, qualified visitors who are likely to use your products or services and whose visits will result in a significant increase in revenue, then $299.00 a year doesn't sound like a bad deal.

If you want to save the money, take a chance on a free submission and see what happens. You may get lucky and be listed within a few days or weeks, or the site reviewers could keep you waiting months. You can resubmit every few weeks though. There's really no way of knowing if or when they'll list your site.

    It's your call.

    I don't think so

I'm going to renew 1 Yahoo paid listing in the next few days for several reasons
    1) This listing improved my ranking on Yahoo
    2) I got backlinks from pages from Yahoo.com, Yahoo Australia, and Yahoo UK
    3) I think that the paid inclusion is a good investment: I use to buy links on TextAdsLink and there you cannot get very much with 299$

    Yes. Do it.

I recommend any interested in building link pop buy a paid link in Yahoo as well as a slew of others we know of.

Never heard that Google ignores such links, and have only had good success. Of course, we only anticipate spider traffic and minimal if any human traffic.

Personally, I think Google likes Yahoo paid directory links as they know Yahoo applies pretty strict features, and the client paid a decent sum. The quality is pretty assured. At least, that is what I would think if I was Google.

Either way, like I said, I recommend all my clients buy the Yahoo Directory link.

    Um, wait a second here.

First of all, Google recommends that you submit to Yahoo Directory

Second, it's not buying a link, it's a listing review fee.

And lastly, with the demise of the bCentral directory and the slow death of DMOZ, Yahoo's just about all you got, cowboy.

I definitely agree with incrediblehelp. BUT, if you have the cash go for it!
Dubbya - Yahoo! only lists noncommercial websites for free in it's directory. Been that way for a long time. If you managed to get one in it was by mistake.
It's really just an expensive link that carries a bit more weight than most. I don't know of anyone that uses the directory for searches anymore so it is not likely to bring you any traffic.
    Just my opinion. $299.00!!!
