The big Digg rig by Elinor Mills

Does Elinor Mills seriously think Digg is filled with just abusers of the system. True their are plenty users that unite to help promote each others content and keep it on the front page of various categories. Sure the system can be taken advantage of, but surely she doesn't think this type of social networking doesn't work overall right?

    The big Digg rig

Heard about this from a WebProNews posting by Andy Beal:

    CNET Wrong About Digg Optimization

I have a good feeling she will be hearing plenty more flack from many SEO blogs, especially since this came out the week of SES Chicago.

    Interesting question.

If there is a way to game the system, for profit, you can be sure that people will do so. I guess the question is whether or not the level of "gaming" is low enough not to drive the quality down.

    I think the opening sentences:
Unlike traditional news sites where editors decide what the news is...
will soon use the word "like" instead.

For instance, spammers have tried to infiltrate Digg to build up reputations and promote stories for marketers, experts say.
It is a matter of time when the social "voting" will be completely controlled in one or another way, just like any other media, implanting our opinions.

Maybe off topic, but I had to...
Impossible? You just underestimate the time.
