It'll Take a Lot For Google to Pass Yahoo Overall

Last week, a Citigroup analyst predicted Google would surpass Yahoo in number of unique visitors by the end of 2007.

I got in touch with Hitwise, who begs to differ. They said, if current growth rates continue unabated (a big assumption Bill Tancer points out), then Google would pass up Yahoo by mid-2009.

I think there is very high probability of Google surpassing Yahoo by the end of 2007. The reason behind this assumption is there is rapid growth of new searchers added every month and second is lot of new initiatives are being carried out by Google which is rapidly closing the gap.
