    Outgoing Links from Site

Does Google penalize your site for outbound links from your site? Can you get banned from Google because of outbound links?

    Outbound links

    Imdavis13,

too many links may prove a problem. Links going to the wrong place may prove a problem. Its less a question of getting banned and more a question of getting penalised. Relevant links going to a topic related site may even provide a benefit.

    Outbound's

So it is me an issue of relevent links...to get more specific: I have many different link sections on our site...some go to misc shopping sites. The site is a mortgage site and mainly it has finance, credit and realtors on it but there is a section with misc, legal and shopping...will this hurt the site?

    hello and welcome to forum,
Google don't penalize your site for outbound links, definetly not.Instead, if your site links to relevant site that gives useful information, then Google gives you credit in form of PR.
Some search engines algorithms appriciate sites with many outbound links. These links are as useful as inbound links.

that's good, links from relevent page to other relevant pages is always better, but don't over do that. You may not guess how is our partner site on other side. If it may get banned/panalised then that will affect your site also.So while outbonding, exchange it with Good highly repuated partners only.

    Outbounds and Farming

We work with a group out of India and they are telling me that the outbound links that I have going out will get me banned and that it's a form of link farming. In the reading I've done a link farm is nothing but a huge page of misc. none related links. Do I have the definition of this? or is outbound linking now some form of farming? Thanks for all the comments -it's great to be on the forum!

No, you do not get penalised by Google with outbound links. Beside, it depends on the nature of your website content.

See pointers officially from Google :

Tip : Be patient while building your Google PageRank (PR). PR does not mean everything for traffic though, it is good to understand :-)

    Content is more important.
