Thread: PR and Link Recognition

    PR and Link Recognition

I have an affiliate program and 100's of affiliates.

About 6 weeks ago we upgraded the system so that the affiliate links would show my domain name and appear in this format:

    http://www.thebabymarketplace.com/?$affiliateID$-$LinkID$

Formerly the link didn't show my domain.

Since doing this I still haven't see any of my affiliate links recognized or included in the Backlinks info on the google tool bar. Is it because of the format of the link?

As well I have alway accepted all kinds of sites as affiliates regardless of PR.

So ... if the link above is recognized by Google and the PR of the affiliate is low ... could that harm my PR?

Thanks Again! Maybe one of these days I will be able to offer some "wisedom" and not just ask "?'s".

    1. Googlebot tends to 'spit the dummy' and avoid URL's with a session ID - I know yours is not a session ID, but it does have ID in it --> it no like.

    2. The Toolbar backlinks only show a sample of links, so that could be the problem

    3. All incoming links will help you and can not harm you, regardless of the PR.
