Google Analytics and the Google Algorithm.

Econometrics is defined as the science that produces empirical content to economic theory. The same can in a sense be said about Google Analytics. Google analytics can give empirical content to Google's search innovation and improve their algorithms. Read more by clicking the link.

With direct traffic data from websites, Google could potentially add an enormous array of variables to their search engine algorithm.

Surely the results would be better and better matched to each visitor, but for this to happen everyone would need analytics installed and everyone needs to be signed into a Google account.

Do you see this happening in the near future?

It wouldn't take the engineering minds at Google to make a great search engine with this kind of access to demographics and website logs. If I had that access I would start www.madebymonkeys.com search engine.

Google has stated numerous times that they won't be using analytics data to affect SERPs. They have said that their motivation is to increase ad spend, as analytics adoption is the number one factor in increasing advertising spend. The more advertisers spend, the more Google takes to the bank, so they gave out a free tool to get people excited about analytics for a while.

Analytics is a wonderful tool. Google could easily let it influence ranking just based on being able to see traffic.

I have 2 sites with identical marketing but different subjects. Both with the same analytics account. Site A is newer and still beats site B at every level. Including organic hits.

Are they getting the data from Analytics or I should say that little piece of javascript. Remains to be seen. I know both sites have a PR of 0. One just beats the other hands down.
