I am a newbie here, so please don't shoot me too badly if these questions seem off-the-wall or anything:-)

1) How do I tell if I have been crawled by a google bot?

2) What is the ALT tag or structure? Can you someone point me to site(s) with tags that are good for google.

3) I built my site in FrontPage 2000 (my friends call me a whimp). I understand that it sometimes does some funny things to the HTML. Are there any search engine watchouts that I should be aware of here?

1) look at your weblog and it will tell you
2) alt tags are used for images on your site. It looks like this:
[img]mytitle.gif[/img]
3) Yes, people that use FrontPage 2000 have been known to be called wimps, wossies and even worse. I would have to see the code to tell you what it is doing ahd what to watch out for. It's getting hard to figure which editor is worse. I have a client that used Go Live and I've seen things I have never seen before.

Look in your server stats for an entry for googlebot

No... the site in the link above was also constructed with FrontPage. What you use to create or edit web pages isn't what affects whether your site is search-engine friendly or optimized for search engines in general or a specific search engine.
