    HEARTLINES Helping all South Africans.

    HEARTLINES Helping all South Africans.

    HEARTLINES is about:

Using multi media to capture the heart of the nation through stories that emphasise the core values that connect all South Africans.

(TV Series starts 16 July 2006)

Helping the nation move from professed values, to lived values.

Engaging in robust debate that links HEARTLINES values to issues of the day – getting to the heart of matters.

Contributing to the transformation of the nation, in line with the call for moral regeneration.

Since 83% of South Africans align themselves with one of the country’s four major religions, HEARTLINES uses God as the authority base for the values. According to the 2001 census, 79.8% of South Africans described themselves as Christian, 1.5% as Muslim, 1.2% as Hindu and 0.2% as Jewish.

I do not agree with the Gates Foundation main emphasis being placed there (Africa), just like I don't agree that the Catholic Church has any business in determining rights whether a husband with AIDS can finally protect his wife by wearing a raincoat, in their recent re-thinking of their birth control mandate and grip on people's lives!

"Unwise Charities" have been a long time problem for anyone wanting to give, be benevolent or otherwise bequeath from overstuffed, misguided and mismanaged philanthropic endeavors!

We have plenty of people suffering right here at home:

Many of which were dropped at 9-11 and still haven't recovered!

Many of which were torn asunder in hurricanes and haven't recovered!

Many of which are suffering under the extreme heat right now all over the country from New York to California without power, air conditioning for the elderly and afflicted, soiled food etc..

TAKE CARE OF HOME FIRST, Your own country: men, women and kids!

IT SHOULD START RIGHT HERE AT HOME instead of immediately excurding into some kind of altruistic, feel good, Hollywood driven misguided BS - IMO.

We can strum this topic just as hard as anyone wants, but the facts remain.... I would not only not support a charity that has the myoptic vision to prefer other countries over needs at home, but I will come vehemently against them at every opportunity possible!

I am not saying this is the case with HEARTLINES, but if it is, you surely don't want to spread that here.

If my belief that American Charity should start at home is considered unprofessional behavior by a MOD here, that's fine, I'll take my lumps where they lie, including resigning now... That is how strongly I feel about this topic in view of the misguided charities that abound!

There are very few topics that really set me off, but as an ex lay-minister, this is one of them!

Make sure you have your "ducks in a row" before posting a response here.

I fully understand that a .za domain is South Africa, but none the less...Right here at home first!, especially at the beginning of a new hurricane season. Go here first if no where else:

I sit on the board of several non-profit organizations. I watch people ignore issues in their own backyard. Instead of giving to the needs of their community they send their money abroad "To aid suffering".

The top charities deal with world wide causes. It is good to think globally - and donate if that is what you believe you should do. As long as you don't forget your own neighborhood!

It has taken my local community years to realize that a homeless shelter is necessary - and when they did realize it..... the fight began to find a place to put it. It's a battle that has torn neighborhoods and the town apart. It could have been avoided if the problem would have been taken serious from the beginning.

Enough on that subject before I jump on my soapbox, again.

I do have to agree with greeneagle though. We have to save the world in our back yard first - the rest of the world can wait.

I just figured users might have been interested in this as a marketing issue: (TV Series starts 16 July 2006)

I'm not watching it, or agree with anything stated.
