Have you seen Google Supplementals today? - Titles jumbled

When doing a site: enquiry today in the google.co.uk index for several of my sites I see supplemental pages returned with incorrect titles.

The results have titles which show the text coded between the html title tags.... plus some additional text from the remainder of the page appended to the end.

An example search enquiry is http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=5...G=Search&meta=

The snippet part of the result correctly shows the text in the meta description tag.

Has anyone else observed this or is it an indication that something is going wrong in Google's supplemental page indexing?

This is the first time I have seen this, and I track this enquiry daily ... sigh

The pages are correctly coded and fully validate for W3C conformance. They have been in the index for a while and I have not recently changed them, the titles have shown properly in previous site: enquiries. They continue to show properly in MSN site enquiries.

This is happening from past 1 week. Even in search results it was showing the jumbled title.

I checked some of those pages with NetCraft, and they had a Risk Ranking of 10!!! They could be dangerous.

See here more about that issue: http://toolbar.netcraft.com/help/faq...tml#riskrating

I also discovered a lot of spamming.

I guess it is clear what is going on with google, or? ;)

This is happening from past 3 months. Google is updating its software for crawling and indexing at Big Daddy. These fluctuations are just a part of it. So no need to worry about that.

More than one perfectly good client site, with good content, navigation, clean code and no tricks get lost by google...

No, no worries here... no worries at all, while google does what it is doing, if in fact it is doing anything at all to fix what so many of feel is wrong with the machine!!!

This is because the site is only one month old, there are other domains on my same IP address which have a risk rating of zero eg www.ebusiness4all.co.uk

I'm very interested in what you saw and thought was spammy - could you spend another 30 seconds on this and give me some more insight so I can address it, thanks.

Noting all the comments though ... I still don't understand why a properly W3C validating site should be indexed in Google with the title corrupted with the addition of additional text from later in the page.

It's not the site. It's Google.
