I changed my hosting package in the summer and things have been going downhill since. However, I also changed ISP, I deleted a lot of my links and have in the last couple of weeks redone my website. Perhaps foolish to make so many changes all at once but circumstances dictated.

So the question is could a change in hosting have an effect on one's search results in Google?

Probably not the right thread, but since you asked and I saw it: Sure, changing hosts "could" affect rankings, but so could "deleting a lot of your links", and "redoing you website". There's also a 4th potential culprit and that is your rankings changed due to nothing you did.

Back to the hosts: the host could be known for harboring spammers and condoning spam, and have many of their IP's blacklisted. They could have put you on a server (IP) that has a lot of scammers or spammers on it, and it's guilt by association. Check your IP address here under the "Spam Blacklist Check" to see if it's blacklisted (at least with the places it lists), and put your IP in here to check out the other sites on your server. (That website is down right now for me).

Clint I have checked the first website you gave to see if my IP is blacklisted and it is with one in the list. What can I do about that?

In the end, ask to be moved to another server and tell your hosts why. Be sure and get the IP of the new server first so you can check it. But I'd wait until that other website is back up so you can see the types of websites that are on the server with you.

I'm over the moon, my website is showing up as top result in Google for my best keyword phrase today. I hope it lasts and doesn't start jumping about again. Really strange stuff. Clint, how you doing?

The a-holes deleted another 20 of my pages from their index recently. That makes about 50 pages trashed over the past 2-3 months. Traffic down about 25-30%. Typical behavior for them--trying to destroy small businesses each year right before the holidays. (This is at .com, not .co.uk).
