Sure, it can. If not enough site owners have the need to link to one of your rare/unusual/unique info/rarer niche pages, it is therefore deemed "unworthy" in the evil eyes of G and you can be penalized for it by it not showing in any search results--only to have it finally appear somewhere in the SERP's after only going to the last page of the results and clicking that "Some search results have been omitted....." link. (i.e. Supplemental index). Now while most SE's may do that from time to time (for dupe content or less relevant pages), G will do it simply because of low or no PR with total disregard to relevancy of one's search query.

I'm not able to understand if the pagerank update is started by Google. Have anyone noticed any change or have any info on this?
aside from PR what are the other factors that affect the rankings? is it true that the age of the domain plays the biggest role for having high rankings?

what do we understand by backlink......well backlinks are the incoming links to a website or a webpage. i search engine optimization backlink tells us about the popularity of the page or the website....so it is very important....
It's not necessarily the "popularity", because the reasons people link to a page varies. So it doesn't explicitly tell us about the "popularity", it simply only tells us the amount of IBL's.
is there PR update this coming November?I noticed some site that drops its PR and some of my sites and blogs are fluctuating.
