Optimizing pages made with Front Page

Hi,

I have been working mostly with Front Page although I did use html to build a simple web site once. I now have three web sites and they are all Front Page as I like the ease of updating the sites.

Although I have managed to gain first position with some key words with many pages, the key words that I crave to own are illusive.

I optimized the pages once with B Central and now have a program called IPB. According to IPB, the crawler bots are misreading my pages due to the way Front Page uses html. Therefore I'm not able to fully optimize my pages to be Google perfect.

I have considered hiring a firm to overhaul my site and it would be redone using Golive. I have not had a chance to learn Golive and am a bit apprehensive about losing ability to quickly change a page when necessary.

Any one know a way to force Front Page to place html properly? so that the bots are reading what the html says it is?

Does any one have an opinion on Golive?

The biggest problem seems to lie with the site bronksknifeworks.com. The bot thinks it is reading my first paragragh and it is actually reading my menu bar. I haven't had the chance to ues IPB on doublelhoofknives.com or proknifesharpeners.com yet.

First of all, welcome to the forum. :)

Sadly there isn't one. It seems that every visual web editor bloats the html coding in some way. I would say find and read a book about Frontpage (I used the Idiots Guide to Frontpage 2000 back in 2000 if it helps).

Having said that if you are going to read and digest anything I would say learn the actual HTML code itself. It is very easy and not as restricting as FrontPage (which you will find eventually).

Does any one have an opinion on Golive?

It is slightly more complex than FrontPage, but I question you learning another visual editor when they all generate the same HTML code anyway (or rather bloated variety of it). Again, you may find it easier to learn the HTML.

As Debbie says GOLIVE is just another WYSIWYG editor - it wont help much to clean up the code.

Thanks for the responce, I started out by learning HTML but once I started using Frontpage I stopped learning it and soon forgot how to use EditPadPro.

Perhaps I'll relearn how to use EditPadPro again.

Looking for the big easy.

dreamweaver has a "clean up frontpage code" command. oh wait, that's for Word HTML... nothing to see here. move along.
