    Please Review Merchant Metrix Logo

Please review this set of logos. I would like honest opinions about the artwork and any perceptions you receive from the artwork. Without looking at the client's domain, please tell me what you think this company's service / product offerings would be.

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Hi

Judging from the designs, I'd say it was gaming-related, something to do with PC components or maybe a teens' sci-fi message board.

The logo is very sub-culture; not 'corporate' at all. Both the metallic look and the font used are quite dated. The font in a logo needs to be able to survive 5 maybe ten years without looking old. That font's already several years beyond its 'use by' date!

And is it done in a bitmap/raster prgram like Photoshop? That's a massive mistake if we're talking a logo design for a bricks and mortar company.

    Hope this helps. :-)

    Logo

I would avoid using such contrasting gradients in a logo.

One of the hardest parts of making a logo is sticking to the rule of "Keep it simple" (KIS). Lots of people get carried away with gradients and embossing and although it may look cool on the computer screen you have to keep in mind how the logo would look in black and white, in a small letterhead version, in print on invoices, etc...

Using lots of colors and or gradients could make the logo cost prohibitive to reproduce in print. One thing to play with would be the shrink test. If the logo is still recognizable at a 1" x 1" box you should be good to go (the hard part here is being honest with yourself, if you create the logo you will obviously be able to pick out what it is, get a second pair of eyes to look at it and even a third and fourth).

Out of the logos posted, I believe you would have the most flexability with #2 and the top one under the #4 link. They are simple, easy to read, and I think both of them would hold up decent in the shrink test.

    parallelworlds,

Thank you for your review. I'm also partial to the non-gradient versions.

Your time has been greatly appreciated.

    Logo Design

I like the one in the 'smaller view' in 4x.
The one without the extra, big X.
I also like the contrasting color X Factor in that design. The other designs are too much.
    Just my opinion.
