    Feedback on goEmerchant.com

I have a client who needs an eCommerce site. I would prefer an "all in one" solution since he does not yet have a merchant account, gateway etc.

goEmerchant.com seems to offer what I need, but would like to know what others' experience has been before I commit.

    Comments anyone??

As far as the company itself it looks fine. They are easy to contact.

As far as prices and everything else goes, they are at the very high end of the scale.

    $60 / month
    $50 setup fee
    $30 annual fee
    $15 statement fee
    -----------------------------
$900 / year without processing a single dollar. Thats pretty steep to me.

2.35% and $.30 is at the high end as well.

Unless their service is absolutely extraordinary, i would say its too expensive.

Just doing a breakdown of not doing an all-in-one solution.

Most any merchant account and generic hosting setup with authorize.net payment gateway.
    Hosting $10 / month
    Gateway $15 / month
    Statement $5 / month
    Free Shopping Cart
    Annual $0
    Setup $0
    --------------------------------
    $360 / year.

2.25% and $.25 / transaction merchant account. (Very easy to find.)

Thats a huge difference especially for a small business, and especially on fees that aren't getting the business anything extra.

My personal opinion, I don't think that this all in one solution is worth the money...

I would somewhat agree with jestep, but not entirely. I want to add that there are reasons people choose to go with a hosted/monthly fee based solutions and the main reason is support. The reasons my clients choose to use us is because they don't have the money for an in house developer, they don't have time to understand all the details about online carts, and they know they can call us 24/7 for quick support.

I do respect free open source solutions and have recommend them to some people. I also feel they are not the best solution for everyone. It really depends on the clients needs.

We use goEmerchant. they most assuredly have their drawbacks.

That said, I do not want to learn all the technical stuff for shopping carts, especially the free ones like osCommerce, and I do not have $500 for an out of the box cart. I do not have the savey to work with my hosting company to add cgi bins etc.

So if the math is right from the other posts, the extra 4-500 year is a no brainer.

have you looked at yahoo merchant or homesite merchant?

    good luck.

I once did a test phone call to these guys. They were less then honest on their responses.
