Thread: Ranking Software!?!

    Ranking Software!?!

    Hello.

I'm not interested in software that automatically submits or organises my keywords for me, but I am interested in some kind of software that displays where I rank on a number of search engines across the range of keywords I use.

Does anyone give anything the thumbs up regarding this? It would be handy more than anything else to show progress to my employers. There is a lot that can be gleamed from Urchin or Google Analytics but ranking across the board on keywords would be very useful.

    Kind Regards
    Steve Bradley

I have the software that can do a full SE report, so PM me your keywords and an e-mail address.
Finding keywords, well Overture have a tool, but it lists hundreds and because it shows results from around the world, then you could easily over optimize.

    ranking software

Though I'm actually looking to see what others out there are using for comparison I'm currently using Advanced Web Ranking (www.advancedwebranking.com) which is working pretty well and has helped me track my recent SEO efforts. I've improved our site's visibility by up to 20% and increased our number of top 10 and top 20 pages considerably.

I'm hoping to interview for a SEO/SEM position in the near future and was wondering what else is out there? What are other members of this forum using?

Internet Business Promoter should help you. It can help you pull out of lots or reports including rankings.

It also examines the top 10 ranking sites for a given search term on which ever search engine you select. It looks at how the top ten sites use, title tags, meta tags, body text, heading tags, alt tags.....etc

It gives recommendations based on what the other sites are doing saying your site has the word "keyword" 10 times . The top ten ranking sites use it only 5 times. You May want to reduce the number of times you use this word.

It doesnt do the work for you and doesnt tell you any secrets that will make you number one it just draws reports.

"Thumbshots" is still my all-time favorite 'extra' little doo-dad for researching positioning. You enter a keyword for two different SE's. Then it shows two rows of dots that represent sites, in the order of position that they appear in those SE's. Then it draws a line to and connects where the same site appears between the two SE's. And if you hover over the dot, it shows a thumbshot of the site's homepage (sometimes).

Of course this is a site and not software to download, but cool nonetheless.

The URL for it is http://ranking.thumbshots.com.

"And running automated queries won't irritate Goog?"

In my opinion i would imagine it wont irritate Goog. If this was the case anyone could simply run the queries against their competitors or large companies just with the purpose of causing problems for them.

I "know a guy" that has done this to his competition and you are right in your post. However, I would rather use their API than run any risks on a production site. That is, of course, if they pick that one to be their issue de jour.

I guess it's another guideline they publish that doesn't really impact anything until they pick this as their issue de jour.
