    Benefits of delicious?

    Hello Everyone,

If you have a blog that posts a few new articles each day, is there an SEO benefit for posting them on del.icio.us?

I ask because it seems that all of the pages with posts and those linking to the post are PR=0 pages.

Is it worth the effort to help in SEO?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Tagging your blog on del.icio.us has the potential to be huge.

i just got back from the New York SES and I heard more than a few tales of folks that had experienced SUBSTANTIAL increases in their blog traffic from doing just that.

Tagging or 'social bookmarking' as you'll sometimes see it called is still probably an 'early adopter' kind of thing, but it's gaining momentum in a major way.

look at it this way; it doesn't cost you anything but a few seconds and it can potentially get you broader exposure, so it's definitely worth doing...

Anytime you can get a link, it's worth it. Sites like del.icio.us and digg can really spike your traffic and create enormous exposure for your site.

    The Social Bookmark Bug

Could we talk a bit more about del.icio.us a bit more? I've just recently been bitten by the social bookmark bug and would like to investigate methods of using social bookmarking/networking as an SEO tool.

My first question is why? Why do people use del.icio.us? What would be some real life applications?

Secondly, how are SEO folks integrating del.icio.us into their marketing campaigns? My first impression is to light the spark for my commercial site with a social network that consists of my employees. We're a small 5 employee web site that is heavily content loaded. So we have a lot of original content to add to a social network. But would many consider this an abuse of the original intent of social networking?

From a SEO point of view the more people that see and read your blog posts the more chance they have to link to them from their blogs or websites. Posting your blog posts at delicious is an immediate way to put those pots in front of a large amount of tech savvy public that know how to post a link right to your website or blog. One-way inbound links are great.

Just from a general advertising point of view if you write a great article, reviews, opinions or something that may be somewhat new to the internet like viral video, those eyeballs can turn into AdSense, banner ads, or text link $$ to you.

The emphasis seems to be on blogs, but I run a content site that is not a blog but has it's own content management system. Is there a way for to use del.ici.us to gain IBLs on a site that is not necessarily operated with a blog software?
