    PSD to WMF?

I am designing some signs for a local company, and the sign company wants the signs in a WMF file format. I have made the signs in Photoshop, and I know that Illustrator can save in a WMF format. But in my attempts to open my PSD in AI (CS1 Versions of both) I get errors saying the PSD is unreadable.

Now I am wondering if that might because of some of the outer glow effects I have on some text? If this is the case, can i remove these effects in PS and put them back in in AI?

Can anyone offer some insight into make this work?

    Thanks

First try to flatten your psd elements, and then copy them. Go into AI and paste them into a new document. See if that works for you. (rather than saving and trying to File>Open in AI)

I would try saving your file as an EPS file. Then open the EPS in Adobe Illustrator. I think you can then save teh AI as a WMF file.

You might not be able to carry over your text effects with vector options.

If that is the case I would increase your resolution on your PSD file as much as possible. Then I would save it as an EPS. Then try opening it with Illustrator and saving it again.

    I think that might work.

Well, I have just tried all of these and these are the problems I came across... Maybe I am missing something:

PSD to PDF to AI -> Only the layer that was selected in PS was accessible in AI. So only one aspect of the image was changeable. (is there a way to select all layers?)

PSD to EPS -> Does not keep layer info (unable to select that option in save as window). So when opened in AI, it is a flat, unchangealbe image.

Copy PS Layer into AI -> Worked, but the sizing was way off (about 1/3 of the size it should have been). PS file is at 300 dpi. Set AI to same, but still small. Could edit the object and scale, but with 6 signs to convert, would take a lot of time.

So any work arounds to the hangups above?

Any ideas as to why layer info is not being transfered easily from PS to AI - both Adobe products you would figure they would work relatively seamlessly?

    Thanks
