    Could use some advice...

We own and run an online invitation service. We've recently been contacted by a company that is looking for custom third party service, much like what we offer on our site, for a client of theirs. The service would be on the client's site and the client's users would not leave the client's site when using this service.

What we would have to do is port our site to the client's server with the client's branding as well as provide some customization.

Has anyone had any experience with Private Labeling a site? We've never done this and after a little research, can't seem to find much concrete information regarding the issues and what's involved... or what/how to charge.

I've gotten myself pretty confused so ANY information would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Try rentacoder.com

Why not posting a bid (no cost) and having someone do it for you?

    Easy...

We do this for one of our sites. There are a bunch of ways to use.

For site design we had various headers & footers which were simply switched depending on who was using the site.

Perhaps I've misunderstood what you're after, but it seems a fairly simple problem you're having with a simple solution.

Is this a requirement of theirs? Would it not be acceptable to allow them to customize headers and footers of your service with there brands etc and host the thing at your side? Giving them your code to host on their site seems odd, and certinly some contractual requirements must be drafted to stop them i.e. redistributing your code or making ammendments you disagree with.

Be VERY VERY carefull of getting a duplicate content filter applied to your site as well as your clients. Just changing a header and a footer still leaves all the section inbetween as duplicate content. A big no no which could lead to all yours and your client pages being listed in search engine siberia or taken out of the listings totaly. It might take the search engines a while to pick up on it but they will.
Articles are one thing but having a whole site duplicated is another, you will have the same content (minus header and footer) with the same link structure pointing to the same content as your site... I wouldn't risk it as affiliate sites are getting a bashing at the moment from search engines and in some cases the main site also gets marked down as well as the affiliates..
