Domain name structures

I'm thinking about starting a new travel site and am looking at options for domain names.

If the most searched for words are 'travel-x term', in that order, would I rank as highly in the search results if my site was called 'x term-travel'?

What I'm trying to ask is, do the search engines look at domain name structures in order of the words, or do they just identify the two words in the domain name and see them as relevant? Both terms are available as a domain name and I want to know if one option is more favourable than the other?

i would stand to believe it wouldnt be that high in the ranks because its not in the order one is looking.
but would come up down the list...but thats just my 2 cents
