stats gone awry

we have a free stats package on our site - aw stats - and according to it on thursday last week we only had 5 visitors - this is a very unusual figure - even on weekends we have over 30 individual visitors a day - so 5 seems very low!

On the wednesday we started tracking with google analytics too, which has recorded that we had 117 visitors on thursday.

Could anyone suggest why this discrepancy may happen? Friday's stats were back to normal, its just thurs that's gone awry!

Does Google Analytics filter out spiders from their results? In most cases, the new AW Stats package by default does filter out search engine spiders and other bots.
