Am I being penalized for some reason?

For some reason, no matter what I do, I can't get indexed high for the key phrase "logo golf balls" on google. My other 2 key phrases, "logo golf products" and "imprint golf balls" I come up number 1 for, but the previous phrase I can't seem to crack the top 1000.

I looked at the top 2 sites and neither of them use the phrase "logo golf balls" in their copy, just the meta tags and description. So I made the same changes to my site and it did nothing. For imprint golf balls, the more time I put that phrase in the copy of the site the better my ranking, but it seems to be the exact opposite for "logo golf balls".

Can someone look through my home page and see why I might be having this problem? I don't really know what I should be changing, if anything.

    Thanks
    Mike

Would someone please take a look for me and let me know how I can get to #1 for this search term?

    Please?

    Some quick observations:

    (1) the phrase in question, "logo golf balls", does not appear ANYWHERE on your home page... you have all sorts of other phrases and the phrase "logo golf products" appears several times, but not the one you're having trouble listing high with.

    (2) for the "logo golf balls" phrase, Google says you are competing with "about 429,000" listings - this may be a case where paid listing might be worth it.

    (3) the bottom line is number of visitors to your site first and sales second (or maybe the other way around). Have you thought of aiming for regionalization? i.e., if people type in "logo golf balls" and get 429000 listings, will they try to narrow the field by typing in "logo golf balls pennsylvania" or something like that? What other phrases are likely to be used by people who want to find a business like yours? Have you explored those?

    Minstrel, thanks for looking.

I took every instance of "logo golf balls" out of my copy because the site that comes up #1 didn't have it listed on their site. I was trying to emulate their success in similar ways. I guess I don't understand why a website with out the phrase "logo golf balls" on their website, and only in the meta description can come up as #1.

How many times is too many times to use "logo golf balls" in the copy? I had it in there about 4 or 5 times and it didn't come up at all. Like not in the top 1000. My competitors have great success with this phrase and I was hoping to cash in.

Any other recomendations would be appreciated.

I don't have time at the moment to really explore your site but one thing I noticed is that, whatever else may be different, the top listings for that search phrase all have the words "golf" and "balls" somewhere in their domain names and/or page names. You don't want to be giving up the domain name you have already but adding a page named "logogolfballs.html" or something with a text link to and from your home page might help. I'd also include a text link from the home page to your site map - create a sitemap if you don't have one yet and on it put text links to all your main product pages.

You already have "logo golf balls" as the first item in your home page title so that's fine.

The #1 site may not have the phrase in consecutive words on the page but it has all the words in the search terms several times on the page, and in addition if you do a search for allinanchor:logo golf balls you will see that the #1 site ranks #1 for that search and for the allintitle:logo golf balls does not rank well at all, and for allintext:logo golf balls again ranks #1.

I suggest that you add the phrase logo golf balls in your page title, in a header on you page and three or four times in your page text in addition to using various parts of the phrase (golf balls Logo balls) etc in the page text.

Add the search term to your alt tags, and use the title attribute too, with your search term worked into a logical description of graphic.
