Multplie Domains and alternative domains

I have a web design client that has multiple domain names pointing to the same web site.

There are a total of three, two of them being little used top level domain names. (.cc).

Does multiple domain names pointing to the same site harm a sites search engine's positioning?

Do little known top level domain names harm a site's sites search engine's positioning?

This will most likely do some harm, as it is seen as "duplicate content".

I thought that would count as duplicate content.

What if they poit ot different pages in the same web site? Still duplicate content?

Yes, it's most likely duplicate content: the original page on the main domain and the other domain's main page.

The best way to do it is to choose one main domain name--and redirect all the others using a 301 Permanent Redirect.

Or, move the page from the main domain to the other domain completely and remove it from the main domain.

I've used meta tags in the headers to to a redirect before, but how exactly does one do a 301 for a domain name?

I would never use meta tags on pages to do redirects--you need to always use a 301 Permanent Redirect.
