Google can't find my incoming links.

Hi -- I did a search on Google to see how many links it could find to my site (link:mysite.com) and it came up with 6. I know for a fact that many more links are out there. Altavista lists me with 60 links linked to my site. Why can't Google find them? How can I change this? Thanks.

Basicly, google needs to index those sites have have links to you. Also to index the specific web page on
those site that contains your link. Those links
should be text based links. Those sites need not to be penalized by google.

There is a sticky message at the top of this forum to explain it. There is nothing to fix. Google only show a random sample of backlinks to a site. What is in the sample has nothng to do with what Google actually know about and use.

I check my backlinks using MSN's search as I find they return a truer count of the actual number of back links out there.

    Check links

    Sondog,

go to the link page. See if its been indexed by Google. If affirmative, relax. As other have pointed out, Google only shows a sample.

    Relaxed

    Sondog,

stay relaxed. Google will only ever show a sample. Its also well out of date. MSN have the freshest IBL information. Although Yahoo seems to be taking the issue more seriously.

Google shows relatively less number of links compared to other search engines. But It will count the links internally.
