Making Shinning Effect - FireWorks, Photoshop ...

    Hello.

I have found the following image: and I would like to make the same effect (interior shadow or light, but not for the whole object) that I remark in the right part of the image.

Does anyone could help me to get it? I would prefer to use Fireworks, but Photoshop will also be considered.

Thanks to all and kind regards.

To achieve this in Fireworks you need to play with the punch tool. Do a test by 1st creating a cirle with a radial fill. Then create two of the same size, make them with a linear white fill. Overlap the two new circles and select modify > combine paths > and punch to create the crescent shape. Then put this over the original circle, you may want to make it a bit smaller using the modify > transform > numerical transform.
When you have it the size you want, change the opacity of the shine to 60-80%.

    Thanks Munky!

I have been playing with it and it seems to be quite accurate. Very good job and easily explained.

    Thanks and kind regards.

If you add the gaussian blur to the shine, something between 2 and 4 then it'll look even better. Also if you make the radial fill go from white to another colour on the main circle. Then use the paint bucket tool to move the shine on the circle, can help to make it look more rounded.

You could even make the crescent shape with a dark colour and use it for shading.
