Internal Linking and CNAME

I only know CNAME working with DNS. I use them a lot if you will look at the bottom 2 link below. As far as internal linking, don't know if the two are related.

The Domain Name System (DNS) provides replicated distributed secure
hierarchical databases which hierarchically store "resource records"
(RRs) under domain names.

Short for canonical name, also referred to as a CNAME record, a record in a DNS database that indicates the true, or canonical, host name of a computer that its aliases are associated with. A computer hosting a Web site must have an IP address in order to be connected to the World Wide Web. The DNS resolves the computer’s domain name to its IP address, but sometimes more than one domain name resolves to the same IP address, and this is where the CNAME is useful. A machine can have an unlimited number of CNAME aliases, but a separate CNAME record must be in the database for each alias.
Usage Note: While CNAME is short for canonical name, use of the abbreviated term implies that one is referring to the canonical name record, not simply the canonical name.

Thanks dude!

The reason I ask is that Matt Cutts at Google mentioned (or implied?) that correct internal linking on your website is powerful. So I want to find out the best way to do so, have pretty much done it the way the is logically correct but am I incorrect?

The reason I ask about CNAME is that Matt Cutts also talks about this often, like it is a flaw in the googlebot, the way I understand it is that if you have the best site in the world on the same server as many spammers you could get hosed, is this why many are moving to different hosts at the moment?

Haven't really looked into it further but it sounds SCARY, just in time for halloween and a Merry F'ing Xmas! :(

When Matt refers to "internal linking" he is probably talking about web site architecture and how it links to itself i.e. breadcrumbs, text link navigation. It is possible, but not likely, that when some refer to "internal linking" they are talking about linking multiple websites together.

I link from my older website to my newer ones to help give them a hand, isn't this better than link trading? Is this another thing to worry about? Man, this stuff pisses me off, it appears you can make one wrong move and be thrown in the trash by google, that is really lame and totally wrong!!

Emotion and SEO don't go well together. The emotion part gets you into trouble while doing SEO. We all feel we have the best and most relevant sites. SEO requires you to check your ego at the door and look at why someone else ranks better and work to improve. That's why an SEO pro is hard to find... once the skills go up, so does the ego and the emotions follow. Those who can control the emotions and think level-headed at all times end up doing the best. It's tough, but a necessary skill to learn.

Yes indeed, and today I found all this junky stuff on my sites like "sitewide linking", was doing it without even being aware. I wonder how many of us blame Google for our own lack of knowledge. This week I will go "anal" on my sites and make them perfect in all ways, it will be interesting to see if they move. (wait a sec, that sounds a little kinky) ;~)
