Can anyone help an amateur please?

I feel a bit of a fool posting here as most of the replies go staight over my head but I would really appreciate some help.
I have been trying to optimise my site mainly by reading articles in webpro world and following the advice as best I can. My Google adword campaign is too expensive to sustain so I thought if I could get on to page 1 of the serps I could start excluding terms from the campaign to bring the cost down. My web site is http://www.kingsandqueenswales.com and we sell Portmeirion Pottery. I built the site myself (self taught and it probably looks like it to you professionals!!)and the optimisation has gone ok and I have been able to exclude quite a few term but I'm stuck on the three main terms "portmeirion" "portmeirion botanic garden" and "Portmeirion pomona". I have written pages specifically to optimise for Portmeirion Botanic Garden http://www.kingsandqueenswales.com/P...ic-garden.html and for Pomona http://www.kingsandqueenswales.com/P...on_Pomona.html but I just can't seem to improve my ranking. For "Portmeirion" i'm hoping that the index page will get to page 1.
I'm sure all you professionals get fed up with people like me but a nudge in the right direction would be really appreciated
    Thanks a lot

    Portmeirion

Well, I see a few problems.
First I get an error when bringing up your page, it shows in the bottom left corner of the browser. Normally those are JavaScript errors, so you need to fix that.

You have a lot of unneeded meta tags that just confuse the spiders.

You have a lot of competition for that keyword but you might try adding additional text to the page. Try to get a couple of paragraphs near the top of the page and one at the bottom using your keyword. This will give the search engines a little more to work with.

Last thought. Try to build up your backlinks. The number one site has 77 links that google would like to show us. They probably have hundreds.

It seems that you're doing very well in yahoo and google. Here are some notes that I find important for the longevity of your projects.

If you want to rank well in google you'd concentrate on building and authority. This excludes taking use of spammy techniques. Publish original content, and getlinks from local and niche authority sites and you'd be fine.
A quick link: and http://copyscape.com/ investigation of your site uncovers that you have some more sites in the same niche, crosslinked and hosted on the same server, sharing thesame content, template and optimization. This can bring you short term results, but you can loose ALL your rankings in one day as well.

    Thanks Martin

    Thanks Martin
The cross linking of the sites isn't intentional spam we have several sites all selling different china products and I just use the same template but change the colour. I buy hosting from the same company each time I set up a new site so this is why they are on the same server. If i asked the hosting company to move the sites to different servers would that solve the problem?
Thanks for taking the time to look for me.
