    Google Vs Microsoft

Well i had been reading somewhere about Google big ambitions and the challenges it throws to MS....

In my opinion I think we tend to take away huge credit from Microsoft when we talk over such issues. Every company and software has its own drawbacks but it is no doubt that MS has created most of the worlds most amazing and easy to use Software ( Max people use Windows and MS Office ... Windows is much easier to operate than the open source OS and muh cheaper than MAC )).....

I think it is largely due to bad press that Bill Gates has received that Ms reputation has gone down... Lets give the MS people there due guys....

    The questions will still arise:

Had microsoft not been so predatory, how many other OS options would we have?

What innovations were squashed simply by their ability to bully those less lawyered-up and with shallower pockets?

With all of their largess and self-agrandizement, why to they continue to deliver software that isn't 99.995%?

I was on the team that manufactured and distributed the first OEM versions of WIN95. It was a glorious time to be doing things like that.

Those visions got greyer over the years......

At some level, yes - but they are so ingrained in business that it isn't a crippling hatred. I do not have a client that doesn't run multiple M$ software on multiple machines, and we do, too.

Of the 8 or so machines in my office, we run 3 different versions of WIN-whatever with only 2 machines running *nix, which are development machines for Web stuff.

We don't, however, run any WIN servers anymore - we just retired our last NT4 box this week. It is now a "controller" for a 300-CD Sony Jukebox and runs WIN98SE.

I try to use the best tools available. If it's a close call and choice number two is open source or non-M$, then M$ loses. We'd never have any WIN web servers as we are all heavy *nix admin-types and have no desire to.

But our biggest Web-dev partner is a hardcore M$ house - .NET and all............
