Overture Goes After Google With Contextual Ad Product

Overture announced "Content Match" today which effectively puts them head to head with Google with contextual ads. Unlike Google, however, they are only putting the ads on high profile and high traffic content partners such as MSN.

"We're not going to go for very wide distribution," Demas said. "If you're an advertiser, do you really want to be on someone's blog?"

    Any thoughts?

I just don't know about Overture, Yahoo and Google...
I can say that if I were an advertiser - in a pay-per-click situation, I would definitely want to be on someone's blog. People are quite likely to click on an ad once they've read or gotten bored of a blog. Google's AdSense generates the most targeted traffic since the text / content decides the ads shown.
Thanks for writing this in here - the comment made me think so much about blogs and Google adsense that I may just start a blog on my site myself!

    Overture vs. Google AdWords

Has anyone done a recent marketing test with the same ads on both Google and Overture?

Interested in clickthrough rates, CPC for same terms, buyers vs. just browsing, etc.

    thx
