    dynamic pages!

Hi anyone got any advice on dynamic pages being spidered?

We haven't built any dynamic pages as yet but it is the plan to do so, I'm sure theres been many discussions on here about this, but can't seem to find 'em!

If we start using dynamic pages is it going to cause us a problem?

    Cheers
    Joe.

Your question is too general joesnow.

Are you talking php, asp, aspx.net?

GOOGLE indexes most meaningful codes but they can all be configured in varying degrees of good or poor SEO.

Also joe, i think no it wont cause a problem is a good answer, because no matter what you think they may do MOD rewrite and other things can undo that.

You can present your pages as static, and you probally will want to do that anyway if you have established pages listed in search engines.

Would want old links to still find live pages even if you generate them differently.

But as eagle said, what do you have now...and what will you have in the future. the more you say the better your replies.

As long as you don't use session id's in the url and there are no more than 3 variables, you shoud be fine

Google has found a bunch of my dynamic PHP pages so I don't think it should be a problem. Just make good links to all of your pages and just keep the URL simple and keep it from changing (i.e. cyanide mentioned Session IDs).

Google has no problem spidering any sort of dynamic content you pass, whether it has a session ID or not.

The reason you don't want to include this information is for SEO purposes. If you include a session ID, based on how the script interpret that session ID, you may open up content to the Google Spider that should be reserved for logged in members only.

Also, any variable you pass, try to make it a relevant string, rather than an ID number. Once again, Google has no problem with an ID number, but Google would rather see (from an SEO standpoint): ?article=How_To_Install_Windows rather than ?article=3 or ?id=3. Using the first option it tells Google, via the URI, that the user is viewing an article, and it's about Installing Windows, whereas the other two don't tell much at all.
