    Anti-Aliasing text in Flash 6

Up until now, I've used Photoshop whenever I needed anti-aliased text. I typed out my block of text and then exported it to a PNG, which I brought into Flash 6 in turn.

But...the more i think about it, the more I think there has to be another, better way.

So I ask...what is the other, better way?

Make your text the same way in Flash, with the text tool, and set it to 'anti-aliasing' in the property inspector. Surely you must have thought of this?

I have been away from here so long I must be missing something in your question. I am, without doubt, missing parts in my head, but I have learned to compensate, I think, fellow Canadian.

...and Flash 8 is supposed to end it once and for all

Text in Flash has been a big headache for us for years. Flash 8 is supposed to resolve all of Flash's text problems and give us crisp anti-aliased text as well as more aliasing options. Hopefully it really will and we will all be able to afford the upgrade.

mikmik's suggestion to enter your text is Flash is about as good as it gets, I'm afraid. And it's fine as long as your text is on the large side. Smaller fonts = fuzzy text. Lots & lots of moving text = slooowww movies as Flash bogs down trying to render and animate all the curves.

Actually...what I meant was "is there a way to control the aliasing of the text" directly from the text properties?

There doesn't seem to be an option to do that in mine.

No matter though...I got what I wanted from the Flash in question, anyway.

    Perhaps more general

    answer.

Flash, is excellent with it's timelines and layers, but the learning curve is steep. You simply drag an object to make movement.

    Look under the Flash heading.

Okay, I see what you mean, ADAM Web Design. About the only options are 'on' and 'off' when you publish your swf.

I found Kirupa (again) about two months ago. This site is by far, my favourite help and tutorials site I have ever seen. Here is an answer to Antialiasing in Flash 5.

Here is the home page: Kirupa.com. I am also a member of the forum there. Although I haven't really gotten serious with FlashMX just yet, I find this forum, this whole site - phenomenal - and people offer some incredible help here, as well as free downloads that will blow your mind. Example - some slide shows/galleries: Scotty's Image Resize Gallery
Please guys post your finished scripts here. This is for anyone who has received a modified version. This is to help folks who are looking through that giant thread for finished versions. Also it helps Scotty and those who participated from having to answer questions that have already been answered.

Please zip the complete project and give a slight description of the mods. Plus any other info you deem important.
I am not kidding, this one, and several others posted, are staggering. Complete with all files (.fla, images, published html pages) and demos.

Do you have a good site for learning, ADAM? I only use free sites myself, there are lot's of them.
