Read every single thread in these top few forums. Read everything from Bruce Clay. Read everything from Danny Sullivan. Massage your eyes and head from all this new knowledge. Study MSN, Google, and Yahoo's technical guidelines. Now use your new found powers and resist the dark side.

    Keith0,

Some readers might think that you are being sarcastic in a way there, so I just wanted to comment that your suggestions are sound advice and that there really is no shortcut building on the mountain of knowledge that must be acquired to play the SEO/SEM game.

I would also add that it's okay to learn it a little at a time. If all you have time for today is to read a few threads, and you learn something and then implement that on your site - you've made an improvement. And you can build on that, over time.

Very good advice, especially since top rankings can't be achieved overnight. Part of the struggle is having patience (even for experienced SEO's).

    MeltMagic,

You may also want to visit some of the members home pages here. You will find a good deal of information.

I have a 3 page Quick Start Guide for New Webmasters on mine.

Let me know if it helps at all and how I might improve it.
