    Goodbye 2003 !

Its hard to believe that we entered the new millenia 3 years ago! It seems like just yesterday. I have come to the realization that it is true, the older you get the faster time flies ! So here we are saying goodbye to another year, and what a year it was! Not only on the world stage, and in the IT field, but also in our everyday life.

What did you regard as highs & lows of 2003 ?

Off hand I can think of a few...and we'll start with the obvious...

WPW - opened its doors to us
Microsoft - started dangling Longhorn's carrot in front our noses
Google - cornered the search engine gossip while it shimmied with rankings & did the Florida shuffle. It also managed to raise the eyebrow of Mr Gates.

Operation Freedom - had people crying in the streets over the war, and people applauding at the demise of the Saddam Husseyn (Hussein) dynasty.
The UN - had problems fullfilling resolutions, and accepting help from the allied forces causing all kinds of problems... but decided they could do better governing the Internet.

    Personal Highs....
    - I figured out CSS & XHTML
    - Expanded the business
    - Renovated house & landscaped garden of new house
    - My daughter passed auditions into Performing arts college & got straight A's at school
    - Met some great intelligent interesting people on WPW !!

    Farewell 2003 !
(I intend the celebrate your passing 'accordingly' !)

    :-)

...and by "accordingly" she meant "more beer and wine" - ha! the Columbians talk about their 3-day parties... In Oz they last until all the beer is gone and the last coals on the barbie have gone cold! ;o)

Happy New Year, Cindy... I assume you'll be heading back to the party now? remember to pop in now and then and tell us how the 'roos and dingoes are doing...

conspicuously reticent...LOL...is that what you call it? :-)

I called it "PM inbox was full and had to try & clear some of it, while working". Hire me a secretary and I wont have to be conspicuously reticent. Then that will be my high point for 2004 ! ;-)

Nice to know I'm missed (I think)!

I'll have a nice strong cappuccino now Julian :-)

Ahem! not even a passing word about the 'roos and dingoes...

Hmmppff.... some 'roo momma YOU turned out to be... now it's just party, party, party while the 'roos are out in the back yard staring with those soulful eyes at empty 'roo bowls, while tipsy guests traipse around in the dark wearing empty 'roo food bags as togas and hollering, "keg-ger! keg-ger! errr... matey... oh and I forgot blimey...".

    Wild life

While we're on the subject of wild life(miriam webstr dicT.: 1 - untamed animal(s) living in wild; 2 - untamed humans + ale + wine found living in the wild(Australia)), minstrel notes:
..and by "accordingly" she meant "more beer and wine" - ha! the Columbians talk about their 3-day parties... In Oz they last until all the beer is gone and the last coals on the barbie have gone cold! ;o)

As I have informed the authorities in Aussieland, we also have "roos". Not 'roos, roos'. ****-a-doodle-doo kind. I think that we definitely have the better 'noise' description of our wildlife - '****-a-doodle-doo' as opposed to - 'boing - boing - boing'.
As for the other wildlife, it seems to have propagated worldwide and the same 'call' can be heard universally: "Wer feelin hapPEE, wer feelin(hic) fi-n-n-e-e-e, 'hen ee urr shmi---(hic)-lin!!, eh uh huh awh! hic*-urp__buluugghheeecccckkk..hic..urp SHmI-i-i-I-__linnngg ans pheelin hic* fa - -HInE!! R-R-R-O-O-W-W-W-L-L-L-FF-FF-...clunk....z-z-z-z-z-z...
Babies don't need a vacation, but I still see them at the beach... it pisses me off! I'll go over to a little baby and say 'What are you doing here? You haven't worked a day in your life!'

2003 was a year I thought I wanted to forget. There are still times that I'm amazed that I get to see the end of it.

The older we get the more biased we become about life. We stop seeing the beauty that surrounds us and the dearness of people. Not because we choose too, but because we become so wrapped up in our own lives, we forget to truly live. This fact was brought home to me in February 2003.

The past year has given me a miracle, it has allowed me to fulfill a few dreams, and shown me that without the help of others, the wonder of success, dreams, hope, and even miracles always remains just out of reach.

So what would I say was the low of 2003? It had to be the fact that I started off the year with my eye's closed, but thankfully I woke up and now I know without doubt that miracles really do happen. :)

    I hope 2004 brings everyone a miracle. :)

As it says in the Dr.'s report: yes

But some light has been shed on the matter, only just hours ago. Seems that I have misunderstood the directions on my Prozac bottle - 1 tablet to be taken 10 minutes before bedtime! Not the other way around. The effects should begin to subside within 4 to 6 weeks.

So as to my high point of 2003, I guess this is it lol

I had two low points. My baby sister died in june, and three weeks ago my best friend, here in kelowna, the guy who encouraged me when I started out with my first computer a year and a half ago, and who was/is the most honest, open, and understanding person that I've met in a long time - he betrayed me. He is not that type of person at all, but the stress of getting a networking/computer business started with me took it's toll on him and he panicked.
He became rude, overbearing, and suspiscious, to everyone, told me where to go, and almost royally screwed himself in the process - businesswise - if it weren't for some contracts already in place.
I put off school for a year(programming) and focussed on getting stuff done for him the last two months, but all funding was in his name and I couldn't do much.
He did end up losing my respect - we went through a similar experience in the summer but I never quit trying if I believe in something - and many other peoples as well. He also had about 5 clients - friends and associates of his girlfriends - lined up for me but ...
Minstrel, and janeth really gave me some support and understanding on a few particularily rough days a few weeks ago, and I know, with all my heart, that several others were there as well.
I like my version of 'out of control' because we laugh, not cry.

I wonder that myself. But I do feel right at home around here! :O)

I am so sorry Mik. If I said anything that was out of
    line...it was unintentional.
