I think I've been Google Axed or Google Dropped, HELP?

I'm an amateure web designer and have built a rather large web site over the years and have paid some attention to SEO techniques. I've enjoyed high search engine ranking for key words in Google and all of a sudden my site has mysteriously disappeared from Google (yet it still ranks in Alta Vista, and Yahoo). I'm reading that my site may have been "blacklisted" and I'll probably never a get a response from Google to know why, but the site does show up in the date base when I search in the google lookup tool, however, it's nowhere to be found any more in page rankings. I did have some pages that were considered duplicate pages with "forms" attached to them but had different titles on them and am curious to know if this got me into some kind of trouble with Google. I wasn't aware that this was going to create a problem. My site is content rich. Each page has its own title tags. Can anyone help out here. My site is my livelihood and how can I get Google to get it back into their search engine?

Can anyone help me, please? I have TWO sites that have disappeared at the same time it seems.
    www.deserthomestoday.com is the main site.

Curiously my "blog site" I just started has ALSO disappeared. The "typepad" blog site at http://deserthomestoday.blogs.com/ The "blog" site is maintained by Typepad and I'm at a loss as to why this site has completely disappeared.

    Thanks. Carey Parker

At one point I had some duplicate content and Google chose to show the first page it found, and drop the second - they didn't drop both.

That said, Google is showing 877 pages for deserthomestoday.com - and I see what you mean about the forms. There is very little unique content on those pages. It does look spammy and could explain your drop.

Also, if you use this tool it looks like some of the data centers are showing 61 and others 96 backlinks for your site. I'd wait until that stabilizes before making any drastic changes.

    Consider Excluding Forms

As usual, cspelts has clearly and concisely hit the proverbial nail upon its head - don't over react and do more harm than good. With the recent "fluxes" in Google, it's very possible all will be well in the long run; could take a month to know for sure.

IF things don't begin to shake out back into your favor, you may want to exclude the forms from being crawled and cached to help make sure you don't get penalized for the points you're already aware of and cspelts confirms.

    Good Luck!

Is the blog site considered "duplicate" content?

That's interesting, thanks. Now I understand what backlinks are... That's a good thing, right?

If the blog site contains links to the main site, would Google consider these "mirror sites" and/or duplicate content?

What's wrong with having more than one web site on the Internet? Each of the sites are being used for different marketing purposes. One is a blog site, the other is for marketing but they are connected.

Could "someone" have possible reported my site as "spam"?

I just don't understand -- what really is considered "duplicate content" to be considered "spammy"? Thanks!

I haven't looked at your blog - but when I said duplicate content I meant the multiple pages with forms on your main site. If the blog is *truly* unique in content, then it is not a problem - just don't overlink between the two! A few times is natural, many times is spammy.

Backlinks are links from other sites to you - and they're very good to have!

Hi Ruth, so do you think it's possible that "someone/something" at Google has put a filter on my search engine results because of the "links" between the two sites and considered my sites as "spammy" because these two sites are "gonzo" now.

Have you had any luck with re-inclusion requests and should I clean them up and get a re-inclusion request going now? You are a great help!

Is it the actual "forms" that are the duplicate content?

    Try Something New

Yoddle is just starting a new concept. Why not add your two site descriptions in the yoddle extended service. You can control your meta, and point back to your site as many times as you like from one detail page. Not to mention you will get some visitors from yoddle. I need beta testers and this would be a great feat if we were able to get you sites found again. Oh yea...here is the link http://www.yoddle.net/search/

Did you change any tags recently? I would recommend changing your title tag.

    Currently it is:

    Code:
<META NAME="TITLE" CONTENT="Palm Springs Real Estate Radio Program, Desert Homes Today on
Newstalk 920 KPSI, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, La Quinta">
Not sure why you have it like that, never seen anything like it before. Your title tag should be like so:

    Code:
<title>Your Main Keyword, a few more keywords etc</title>
I'm not sure if this will solve your problem but it's a good start. Google likes validated code, you might want to have a look a w3.org and try to get your code up to standards. You may also want to add some good copy to your homepage, all you have right now is links.

On second look I see you do have a title tag. This should be at the top of the code, then your keyword, and description meta tag.

I would get rid of the meta title tag.

You also may be spamming the search engines by using the exact same anchor text for all inbound links.

Add this to any type of large repeated link from a big site and you will eventually get tagged and penalised.

Grab a program that will capture all your inbound link text and do an analysis. SEOElite does a good job of it.

If the percentage of just the one keyword is over 80% you are walking the track to penalty.
This is a test of linking power of signatures.
