Performing better in search engines via article submissions

I want to do better in the search engines, so I've decided to write some articles in the hopes that people will post them on their websites including a backlink to my site.

I recently wrote a couple articles and posted them on http://www.goarticles.com. Is this good enough? It is a better idea to submit the same article to more than one online article resource? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Don't just submit them to one site, there are tons of other places that you can submit your article(s) to get included.

WebProNews will accept articles if they're good enough, as well as Search Engine Guide and other online publications, as well. There are also many other blogs that will accept them from time to time, as well.

    Ok, makes sense.

Does anyone have any favorite free article sites they like submitting to?

One thing about submitting articles, it really helps if the content of your article matches your website. Otherwise you won't be getting any 'real' vistors.
    Remember: content is king!
Here's a good site for ya:

    thephantomwriters.com

This is a service that submits the articles for you to various ezine publishers, many of whom will post them on their website. Well worth it.

You can Google to find lists of sites that act as clearinghouses for articles to be "free reprint" republished on other websites and email newsletters. There are well over 100 general interest ones, though not all will repay your time to submit to them. There are also niche clearinghouses that might be a better investment of your time, such as articles for women, for home business, etc.

Hmmm, interesting - never even knew a service like this existed. Have you actually purchased any packages by phantomwriters? If so, how was your experience with them?

Their prices seem pretty reasonable and they make a good case on their website.

I recently found isnare.com. You can also sign up for lots of free content lists at yahoogroups (groups.yahoo.com). Or sign up and search the archives if you're looking for articles.

Being an editor for a few newsletters I can say one thing for certain. I appreciate articles that are to the point. Have lists or bullet points. And I really appreciate unique articles, not the same article (topic) written 200 different ways.

Article authors that get the best response are ones who consistantly post new articles. Each week or two they post another great article. Those are people who go the extra mile and get a ton of extra promotion. Consistancy counts. So rather than submitting 5 articles at once, I'd submit 1 article each week.

The other thing I notice is when I go to all the different sites looking for content, I see the same article everywhere at the same time. That's annoying. So when I submit articles, I stagger them. I'll submit an article to two or three places this week and two or three more next week. That keeps me at the top of more lists longer.

    Just some opinions.
