A client of mine has been bringing the idea of going after web design awards up quite a bit over the last few weeks. I haven't really given a lot of thought to this issue since 1998, when awards got to the point where everyone and their brother was winning one.
But that was 7 years ago, and I'm sure the issue has changed since then. So my question is twofold: are there any web design awards that would actually establish credibility for a designer/design firm, and where would I be able to view the competition/past winners to see what I should be striving for?
Ideally, these "awards" wouldn't require me to post a link from a site I designed back to theirs, since I find it ironic that a site design award placed on a website generally makes it looks worse.
