So TiVo CFO David Courtney was at the University of Pennsylvania recently, talking up the notion of <u>TiVo as a media hub</u>. Well, of course he was. If you were TiVo, you'd be promoting the notion of Set Top Box as a hub too. And it's not like Microsoft and the gang have set the world on fire with their efforts to get Media PCs into the living room.</p>



But none of those UPenn brainiacs thought to ask Courtney about whether his company will even exist after DirecTV dumps TiVo for NewsCorp's NDS DVR in two years. It'd be just like TiVo to come up with the perfect home media hub, and then die a quiet death while Microsoft or NewsCorp use all those good ideas in devices that actually have an audience.</p>



You shouldn't stop innovating, of course. But I have to imagine TiVo's got bigger problems than getting my sister's baby pictures onto her TV.</p>
