Hello all, do you know of any software program that will help me keep track of clint/site info such as domain registration and hosting renewal dates, user names, passwords, credit card info, etc.? I have tried various contact managers but they aren't tailored to the website biz. Maybe an Excel template would work. Thanks!
If you're familiar with Access at all, I feel it's a great way to manage your client information. We keep everything in an Access database so we can then use the info for merge mailings and email broadcasts, plus we can easily sort through our info.
Lots of great tools in Access.
Using Access for a database with credit card info is not smart, especially if you do what 99% of people do with it and not put any form of username/password security on it.
Go with something a little more industrial-strength, like SQL Server 2K or possibly MySQL (I'm not really sure how it handles issues like this) and build a front end for it. I used SQL Server for mine (although I do not store CC info on it.)
SQL Server 2K is great.
However, MS Access is absolutely fine as long as you don't have the computer your database is stored on on a network.
Keep CC details separate from the web, seriously!
