    Available tools

    Hello,

We just finish our new website. What free tools available to test the site or to be aware of in order to correct them?

    Thank you

    you can use bobby http://bobby.watchfire.com/bobby/html/en/index.jsp

to check tech issues you may have missed, such as missing alt attributes. But thats nowhere near enough.

For a real check go through the WAI guidelines and tick them off one by one. And apply some common sense.

I suggest to use firefox and install the web developer extension (do I sound repetitive ...?). It offers a whole bunch of tools integrated in a handy toolbar (including online validators for HTML, CSS, WAI, Section 508 etc).

Just try it, you may wonder how you could ever work without this great piece of software.

    hth,
    Alex

    webnauts,

Its all well and good having easy access to those automated tools on one page, but do you think maybe it should be made clear that they are NOT a substitute for a handcheck and the application of testing and common sense?

You are right. Sorry for missing that point.
