with regards to above the site views fine in IE6 but when i check it in Firefox im getting an extra bit of white space on the index page and I cant see any particular obvious reason in the code
First off, I don't exactly see what you are talking about.
Secondly, and I don't know how to say this without sounding cruel, but it needs to be said. That is probably some of the ugliest code I think I've ever seen. Are you using a WYSIWYG editor to make this? If so, fire it and find a new one. If you are hand coding, you need to start over. Though it looks like WYSIWYG code, and more often than not, that equals garbage code.
12 lines of code to add some whitespace. There's absolutely *zero* content in there. I don't know that I or anyone else in here could really even begin to sort that mess out. I am honestly not trying to be harsh here, I just don't exactly know how else to say it. Consider using some CSS to add your desired whitespace. The whitespace issues you are seeing are likely a result of the very poor code.
I'd say your best bet is to remove all of that redundant code like I posted above (including the 5 <p align="center"></p> instances and such) and try using CSS to accomplish the same effect.

Im using dreamweaver no other pages have problems its just the index page To make it easier the page views fine and as intended in IE6 but when viewed in Firefox um getting extra space which is highlighted by black which only occupies the space as the page banner page code:

I have sorted this out on the main im still getting a slight differnce in the browsers but its minimal No more help required thanks
