What's the best way to get a good Google Page Ranking?

Should you hand submit your page to search engines or what exactly should you do?

The best and only way to increase Page Rank is incoming links into your site.

If you are talking about search ranking, links are still the best way to increase your ranking.

Submitting your site will do nothing at all to get your site indexed or increase rankings.

    Links, links, and more links.

As jestep points out submitting to SE's will not help. Submitting to directories though, will. Create good content folks will want to link to. Here's a good thread listing directories to submit to...

I know so many people love to talk pagerank, but it is not that important, A/ you must think of PR as you do when looking at the night sky, it's not accurate, it takes 3 months to update, and when it does, the odds are you are where you were before.B/ Submitting to Directories is more important than anything else, but not to exclusion of your site and its content. You can have a site about Peanuts and get it to Number One everywhere, but if the product is crap, then people will not re-order. It's as simple as that, make your site as interesting as you can, update it every two weeks or so,make it a site that you would want to visit and buy from. The rest as they say will follow.
