Designing the structure of the website

I'm doing a project in HCI(Human Computer Interactions) about a software that is essentially made for website designers. More precisely it allows to create a low fidelity prototypes using a metaphor of post it notes. The major idea of the software is to create an environment similar to "white borad & post-it note" style. More information can be found on: http://guir.berkeley.edu/projects/outpost/

At the moment we are trying to create some sort of profiles(persona) for the users that may use this software. Therefore, I would like to ask you a set of questions that would help us in our project. The questions will be available on http://ece.concordia.ca/~a_deichm/web_evaluation.doc.
The answered versions may be sent to godzilla@istop.com.

Moreover, if any one feels that they can add constructive comments or tell me their story related to the product discussed above, all the comments are more then welcome, and I will try to answer all the question asked.

Thank you for your help and participation,

Mac computers used to come with a program called stickies by Apple. It was basically a post it note type program, with some options. Below are some quotes, from the program. Go to http://www.apple.com for more info. This may give you ideas that you can incorporate and improve on. Good Luck.

Format text using different fonts and font sizes, bold and italic text styles, and color.
    Include graphics .
Find text in the current note or all notes.
    Check spelling as you type.
Create notes from the text in other applications. Select the text, choose Services from the application's menu, then choose Make New Sticky Note.

Stickies lets you keep notes (like these) on your screen. You can use a Stickies note to jot down a reminder to yourself or to store frequently used text. Your notes appear when you make Stickies active.

give people a reason to help

    Hi Godzilla,
I downloaded your interview document and viewed the web site and the video demo. I can sort of see where you are going, but it might not be enough for other people to fill out a questionaire with such personal questions. You may want to tell people what you intend to do with the data, why you are in need of this data and what measures you will use to protect the information.

I also think this would be better served on a web site, perhaps over SSL (encrypted) for an added level of security. I am sure the university could help you with it.

The idea is quite nice and now I wish I had the system and that Smart board too!

    Good luck with your project.

    Clarifications

The questionnaire will be used to create a statistic representation of the potential users(persona). This means that no personal information what so ever will be used. Moreover, most of the time a real person may be a mix of 2-3 different statistical users(personae).

The data is usually collected and then grouped in cathegories like: computer experience, stress level etc. From these cathegories a simplified form of a statisticla person is created. Therefore, at the end no real data is conserved, and all the questionnaires will be deleted as soon as the information was gathered into statistical tool(maybe as simple as Excell worksheet).

As for the encrypted web based form... I would be able to set it up in 2-3 hours on my personal server but the data from the db is even harder to manage and given the deadline we have(1.5 weeks) it simply does not worth it. Moreover, we need something like 10-15 inputs only ...

Also, I would like to remind everyone that NO PERSONAL INFORMATION IS REQUIRED. This means that it would be suffient for me to know your nick name in the webproworld to be able to process the questionnaire. It also means that ANY question that you judge too personal may be omitted.

    Thank you for your inputs.
