    Vanguard Software Revisited

    http://www.vanware.co.uk

We develop and try to market a field sales system running on Pocket PCs.

This site has undergone a makeover, and I would be grateful for comments, especially from people who saw the previous version.

The basic changes are to replace the FrontPage theme by a CSS style sheet, and to use screenshots for graphic content.

The banner and the home page still lack oomph, but there are better than they were.

    Hello,

Had to comment on how quick it loaded - faster then a sneeze! (on a 56k connection too)

I like the fact there's minimum decoration, the only graphic you have used is the pocket pc which helps to instantly illustrate how it's used. You seem bothered about the decoration thing but it isn't really that important.

I don't know too much about your product but i have an idea. Why don't you insert a flash demo in your page showing a pocket pc and the demo could show what your software does on the pocket pc illustration. You have a lot of written material and it's in a situation like this where actions can help more then words to get your idea across.

You don't have to have the whole site as flash - just embed it within the site. Just an idea anyway.

    Use of Graphics

    Thanks for your comments.

What I was trying to say was that earlier I had steered away from using screenshots, becasue I felt that the 240x320 format was unwieldly (and they do not scale at all well). But they work fine, for both 600x800 and 768x1024 browsers.

Flash is a nice idea, but it might be too complicated.

I have been trying to use FrontPage photogalleries, to generate a series of walkthroughs. But the navigation is based on thumbshots, which are completely blurred. I think I will have try javascript instead.
