    A New Wave-"Content Freshness Manipulation"

When doing a search on "Miserable failure" and returning this result:

Biography of President George W. Bush
Home > President > Biography President George W. Bush En Español.
George W. Bush is the 43rd President of the United States. He ...
Description: Biography of the president from the official White House web site.
Category: Kids and Teens > School Time > ... > Bush, George Walker
    www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html - 29k - Cached - Similar pages

When returning; #1 in Google, #1 in Yahoo and #5 in Overture and high rankings in several search engines -------- THIS IS NOT ABOUT "FOOLING GOOGLE". It is about a "content freshness factor" that several search engines have introduced into their alogrithms!

How are they going to beat this "Content Freshness Manipulation"? Any Theories?

By content freshness, do you mean Google checking for how recent a web site has been updated / how regularly it is updated and giving it more relevance?

That being the case, I have noticed that this effect has been around over some time. However, the plus side is that in any industry sector it effects us all equally. Many of the sites I compete against haven't been updated for years - good!!! Equally it is a struggle to get fresh content out of my customers.

I should emphasise that this isn't about a regular web site redesign but about continual change.

I agree completely. We have taken to verbally reaffirming the changing SE landscape with clients and openly reinforcing the renewed need for “Content Freshness” and the importance of maintenance of their Sites. We also have included this topic in a periodic client newsletter. So far it has been received openly and we will be re-launching a new site for one of our clients tonight or tomorrow. He and we feel it is an order of magnitude better than the old site.
I'll be meeting with another client Monday afternoon to receive another $3,000 in updates!

A changing landscape…..Is almost always an opportunity!
