Pay for advice...good Idea or ?

I am curious to the experiences of those that have set up and run Pay for advice sites. Are people, in general, willing to pay for advice from those they never meet only know from the internet? Does anybody have great examples of it working? Horrible examples of what never to do?

    thanks,
    Cootiesan

    Hello Coverall,

unfortunately people tend to answer questions, sometime, without thinking them through. There are so many ways to get information on the web, that you really can usually find whatever you are looking for.

However, there "are" instances where you can charge for information. You can find hundreds, if not thousands of sites about home decorating. However, I have a site that offers a service of "Home Decorating via the internet" for which I charge a fee. I work at their speed, I work "with" them and I, sometimes, end up making about a dollar an hour for all the time I invest. However, I love what I am doing and at the rate things are going, I really think I will soon be overwhelmed. So...think things through before you start, but don't give up on your dream.

Although it started out slow, word is getting around and business has picked up quite a bit. This last Google dance has cut us back a bit, but the point is, most information is vague and when you need to get "in depth", more specific, or offer support or feedback, I will have to say that one "can" charge for that type of information.

Just remember...you have to offer something that people can't find anywhere else. Make it so that they really are getting their money's worth. There are too many people out there that are scamming to take people's money for nothing. Don't fall in with that type of person. Give more than you get.

    Hope this helps,

    Warmly,

    Jane
