A META question..

Hi all,

I think I got this question in the right part of the forum...

My question is to do with the META Tag 'cache-control' and it's options...

What exactly does this tag perform and does it have any relevence to ranking or is it just for HTML pages which are updated on a regular basis, or something else?

e.g.

<meta name="cache-control" content="Public" />

content options:
private
no cache
no store

I believe that this tag is simply a suggestion for the browser to take into consideration regarding local caching of the webpage on your computer. It shouldn't affect your ranking in any way...
