We sure did last month when we took on a new client.
Upon further investigation we found multiple links to his URL from significant and authoritive websites containing news releases and articles, such as from the Department of Energy and the Stripper Well Consortium.
This clearly demonstrates the power incoming links have in the GOOGLE alogrithms when they are from "authoritive" and "Popular" sites with high GOOGLE relevancy rankings of 60%+.
Maintenance of that high a ranking with the only HTML on the page being one sentence; “Future Site of xxx company”, would not have been very likely if the incoming links had been of lesser quality.
We expect that if the GOOGLE ranking algorithms do not already detect and penalize for multiple incoming “linkmill” links, they soon will. That will be an earth shattering rearrangement for a great number of top listed sites and send a bunch of SEO companies using those tactics, scrambling.
