    www.JKomp.com

So what do you think? www.JKomp.com - a decent domain? or disaster? My company just merged with a smaller marketing company and we needed a rebranding, my surname is Jenkins and the owner of the other company is called Klepp, so i came up with JKomp.com - Jenkins-Klepp Computer Services. Please ignore website content, it is scheduled for rebranding soon. Just would like opinions on the domain choice.

I'm not sure....as a brand marketer I'm not wild about it, because it's not really a word that can be made particularly brandable.

Seems to me you should think about both the brand and the domain, they may not be identical but they're certainly closely connected.

There are a number of ways to approach a new brand (and therefore domain):

    1. Make your new company name a strong brandable version of your actual company name. In your case - company=Jenkins Klepp Computer Services. Your short-version "brand" could be Jenkins-Klepp, and the domain maybe jenkinsklepp.com? (I'd avoid the hyphen if you could - we have one and I HATE it, but others do say it helps with spidering. Best case would be to use jenkinsklepp.com as your website and also buy jenkins-klepp.com and redirect.)

    2. Make something entirely new up (think "Accenture" or "Google") - but make sure the web address is available!

    3. Use an acronym of your actual company name - JKCS - but likely not available as a domain, so maybe not the best choice.

JKomp doesn't really speak to your company name, or your business, it's too much of a bastardization of the name to understand - and it looked to me like your own name (figured you were James Komp or someone....!)

    Good luck!

    Stephanie

Thanks for the evaluation, got me thinking. I was planning on using JKomp as the main name, but I will see what else i can come up with.
