Is there anything considered "illegal" or improper by the search engines if, instead of having one site that highlights our web design and software development services, if we have two separate sites - one for web design and one for software development - even though it is all the same company. I would use the same contact info, etc., but the content would be specific to each service.

We do well locally in the rankings, but I am thinking if I have sites dedicated to each service provided, it might help on a larger scaled audience.

Appreciate any advice or input.
